On Friday, January 27th, I'm releasing CHARCOAL. Charcoal is the carbonaceous material obtained by heating wood or other organic substances in the absence of air. I can relate to that. We are made by the moments in which we can't breathe. We are formed and we become who we are when we're in the "hot kitchen." The smoke doesn't kill us, so it makes us. Who you really are is who you are after you have overcome. When you lose air and you cannot breathe but you do not die, you are made. You are you. You are who you were meant to be.
Charcoal also means "to blacken, write, or draw with charcoal." That is the ultimate. That is the opposite of our current social climate. Instead of white washing, what if we charcoaled? What if we took all that is good and claimed it melanin?
